WASHINGTON -- In Herman Cain's America, the tax code would be very, very simple: The corporate income tax rate would be 9 percent, the personal income tax rate would be 9 percent and the national sales tax rate would be 9 percent.

But there's already a 999 plan out there, in a land called SimCity.

Long before Cain was running for president and getting attention for his 999 plan, the residents of SimCity 4 -- which was released in 2003 -- were living under a system where the default tax rate was 9 percent for commercial taxes, 9 percent for industrial taxes and 9 percent for residential taxes. (That is, of course, if you didn't use the cheat codes to get unlimited money and avoid taxes altogether.)

Wouldn't surprise me, since there isn't much of anything about many on the right and the GnOP based in reality....

Herman Cain (born December 13, 1945) is an American businessman, syndicated columnist, and radio host from Georgia. He is the former chairman and CEO of Godfather's Pizza and a former Chairman (Omaha Branch board 1989-91), deputy chairman (1992–94) and chairman (1995–96) of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City.[2] Before his business career he worked as a mathematician in ballistics as a civilian employee of the United States Navy.[3][4] He lives in the Atlanta suburbs, where he also serves as an associate minister at Antioch Baptist Church North.

Rich Lowrie, the Ohio Wells Fargo employee who is the brains behind Cain's plan, did not return a request for comment regarding whether he is a fan of SimCity and looked to the game for inspiration.

A receptionist at Lowrie's Wells Fargo office said she doubted his idea came from SimCity. "Probably not," she told The Huffington Post. "I don't think he's much of a game person."

Presumably, under the Cain plan, disasters would be turned off.

Maybe Lowrie's not "much of a game person." Maybe he got the idea from his pre-teen kids, who got it from SimCity.

Which version has the alien invasions and are they part of Cain's plan?

Just in case it did come from Sim City (I wouldn't doubt it) can anybody give me the cheat codes or do I have to ask my kids?

I checked with my accountant, he spoke with Herman and was told that they'll be sent out with W-2s as soon as he becomes president.

"We encourage politicians to continue to look to innovative games like SimCity for inspiration for social and economic change," said Katsarelis. "While we at Maxis and Electronic Arts do not endorse any political candidates or their platforms, it's interesting to see GOP candidate Herman Cain propose a simplified tax system like one we designed for the video game SimCity 4."

I love this.

It was a no-brainer that Goo Goo Eyes Bachmann would see 666 in the 999- Teabaggers are so obvious and hysterical. Now, who is going to denounce the European-style VAT? Anyone? Or does Big Daddy Cain get a break for playing a minstrel man?

Next thing Bachmann does is get all mixed up and tell us Cain got the 6-6-6 thing from SIN City instead of Sim.

Why am I not surprised that Cain's so-called "plan" is not based on any sort of reality?

Not only do no reputable economist thinks that Cain's so-called "plan" is even viable...

http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/political-animal/2011_10/about_that_999_plan032595.php

...but that Cain's own adviser stated that it's not even politicially viable...

Herman Cain expressed confidence at Tuesday's debate that his much-touted "9-9-9" plan to revamp the tax code would pass Congress, but the paid campaign consultant who scored the plan for Cain said the idea was more of a theory than a politically viable solution — and not the route he would suggest himself...

...Though Robbins says the plan would work fiscally and economically, he believes people would never accept such drastic changes.

Rodney, I don't know why I didn't see your article on the front roster (I have it set at 100) yesterday, but Lawrence O'Donnell talked about this last night.

Sim City. This guy wants us to take him seriously and put him in charge of appointing people who will direct our economy, huh? I'd ask how the GOP would top that, but I'm very afraid of the answer. LOL

Yep, Sim City would be the template for the tax code of a 3 trillion dollar economy...the guy has a screw loose.

I can hear his new campaign ad "Herman Cain - If it's good enough for the Sims, it's good enough for me"

At least he hasn't called the Sims racists yet, that has to count for something.
