Here’s the scenario, Israel launches a major first strike on Iran in an attempt to disrupt their progressing nuclear program. Israel has initial success destroying numerous targets and also minimizes lost of life among Iran’s civilian population (which is even acknowledged by the Iranian government) but then the IDF stumbles allowing the Iranians to score a major blow to Tel Aviv or Jerusalem.
Several heavily armed missiles fall on the one (or both) of these population centers resulting in significant loss of life (several thousand) among the Israel civilian population.
This results is mounting pressure among the more radical Israelis who demand that Israel respond with nuclear weapons.
Would you, as an American citizen, support the use of nuclear weapons by the Israel government in response to a conventional counter attack by the Iranian military. Not a terrorist attack, but a legitimate military counter attack to an unprovoked Israeli attack on the Iranian nuclear facilities?
Would you support such a response and should our government support the use of nuclear weapons under such a scenario?
